A big question, when deciding to travel to Walt Disney World, is to either fly or drive. Since I live in Indiana it really is a toss up. I could fly and be there in about an hour and a half or drive an be there in a day and a half. Since I am not too keen on flying and my kids have never been on a plane, the decision was pretty much made for me.
Driving down, although slower, does have a lot of advantages and here is a small list.
1. Driving to Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studio, and Epcot is faster than taking Disney transportation.
2. If you need to go off property, to go to a grocery store or visit the outlet malls around the area, it’s nice to have your own vehicle.
3. You are familiar with your own vehicle. You won’t have to figure out a new car if you end up renting one when you get to Florida.
The only thing that I know is that I will make sure to have a collection of DVDs and video games for the kids on the drive down and a fully loaded iPod for myself. We also should probably start looking into where we will stop for the first night on the way down to make a reservation at a hotel.
