I keep hearing about the Tonga Toast but I was looking over the menu and The Samoan sounds really good too.

I may get to see the sunset. My reservation is at 7:30.

I agree with your point that there is a vocal minority that is not in favor of D23 (and likely a silent majority who do like it). Based on the fact that D23 merchandise is selling out quickly, leads me to think that there are a LOT of fans (like me) joining D23.

If someone doesn't like D23, that's fine, don't join. Your "fan-ness" hasn't changed. But please, don't criticise others who do want to take part in all that D23 has to offer (which is quite a bit in my opinion).

The DIS boards aren't the only place where some are criticizing Disney - you can find that on just about every podcast, message board and blog, even mine. I tend to focus on the positives of what Disney does, not the negatives, but that doesn't mean I don't give critical comments when I feel they are appropriate and constructive.

David, I will admit I have not been to the DIS forums only because of the negative things that I have heard coming from there. Bigger does not mean better.

I am not at all saying that people should not voice their opinions but when someone does not agree you DO NOT attack them. It's uncalled for in a community that is partially built on Disney ideals.

On the topic of D23, we are going to have to agree to disagree. In the overall scheme of things the people that sit back and don't say anything overwhelmingly outnumber the negative people. They are either content with what it is happy with it or just don't care either way.

First let me start by stating that I respect your opinion. But along with praising accomplishments I don't think there is anything wrong with criticizing Disney when they do something poorly. You obviously did not mention the DIS forums/podcast when writing about communities “that epitomize what a Disney fan community should be” in your article and I assume your message is at least partly directed towards them. The DIS is far and away the largest Disney fan base online with over 215,000 registered users and it is shortsighted to dismiss such a large audience as not being a true Disney fan community. Their opinions may differ from yours but that does not make them wrong.

I, along with most fans, find it refreshing that a company can take off the “rose colored glasses” when talking about Disney and provide honest feedback. This is a large reason why I listen to the DIS podcast but have given up on others. Pete Werner and the entire DIS Unplugged podcast team does a great job by providing unbiased reviews and information. A forum/podcast does no favors to the community as a whole by overlooking the bad and embellishing on the good. Would you prefer someone tell you about the two different colored socks you’re wearing or do you prefer walking around all day oblivious to the fact?

To your point about D23 criticism coming from “what I feel is a very vocal minority”, I suggest you do a little more reading and research. I think you will be surprised at the number of negative articles written on the subject and will quickly learn that the backlash is coming from the large majority.

In closing, those that choose to be unbiased are not making you or anyone else look bad. Disney does in fact watch many of the online message boards and that is a good thing. How else would they know that one of their socks is blue and the other white?

Hello! Just found your blog so I know this comment is a bit late. The food at LeCellier was great. The kids loved the desserts the best. :-) Good choice! We did the passport thing, but we didn't have the kids do the 'activity' at each country. It started taking too long and I started getting impatient. Sounds like you've got a really good plan going!
