A Surprise for the Kids

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

Well I was able to finish up my surprise for the kids this weekend.

I made them autograph books to take to WDW so that they can get some character autographs when we go to Chef Mickey’s for breakfast.

Here are a few photos.

11 days and counting!

Monday, May 25th, 2009

With less than two weeks to go, I received all of my information for our trip from MEI and Mouse Fan Travel. There were some goodies in there too.

I would like to thank Stephanie for all of her help getting this planned. I’m sure we are going to have a great time down there.

Now, on to packing!

Characters in Flight

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

Here is a good photo of the Characters in Flight balloon over at Downtown Disney. Here is what the have to say about it.

“Guests will get a bird’s-eye view of Walt Disney World Resort as they soar to new heights in a whimsical attraction that recently opened at Downtown Disney. Characters in Flight, operated by Aerophile, is a giant tethered balloon that ascends some 300 feet into the sky every 10 minutes (depending on weather). Riders can catch the flight daily for $16 ($10 for ages 3-9).”

This looks like something I may have to try out with the kids when we go down in June

Reservations…DONE!

Friday, March 13th, 2009

Well, other than packing, I think we are ready to go.

Our 90 day reservation window came up and Stephanie, our travel agent, made all of them for us. There was one place we couldn’t get into, Cinderella’s Royal Table for breakfast, but now we all get to eat together at Chef Mickey’s at the Contemporary Resort. We also couldn’t get into Le Cellier Steakhouse on our Epcot day so we are going to try out The Coral Reef at the Seas with Nemo and Friends pavilion. Now Stephanie was able to get us into Le Cellier on Saturday evening before we leave.

Stephanie also could not get my daughter into the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on Monday in the Magic Kingdom but she did get us into the Downtown Disney location on Wednesday. Now that I think about it, this works out better. I don’t think she would have done so well all day in a long dress with how hot it could be.

My take on the latest refurbs

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

The first refurb is the one going on with Space mountain. It’s starting April 19th with a tentative reopening sometime in November.

This really bums me out because it will end up being closed during our trip in June. My son was really excited to be going on it and it would have been his first indoor coaster.

Now I know it’s not the latest and greatest coaster but there is just something about this coaster that was really exciting and I feel bad that my son will not be able to experience this for another couple of years.
I personally will be able to ride it in December during Mousefest and will be able to give my opinion about the changes they made and weather of not they were worth closing down for such a long period of time. Just going by the news and rumors that are making the rounds, it sound like they should have decided to go all out and shut down for a longer period of time and given WDW the same update that Disneyland received. Our last day at Walt Disney World

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

Well since I ended up doing the buy 4 nights get 3 free package we will have this extra day. It will probably be uneventful. Filled with last minute shopping for gifts and souvenirs and lounging around at the pool. I may have to take the kids to one of the parks to get in a last ride on something but that is all I have planned for our final day.

On Sunday we are going to wake up early and start driving and driving and driving, I know the trip home is going to seem like an endless ordeal. We will probably have to stop somewhere in Tennessee for the night and then wake up the next morning to make it the rest of the way home.
I sure hope the WDW Blues doesn’t kick in really bad.

The Final Park

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

Finally we make it to Animal Kingdom. This is he one park that neither I nor my kids have been to before. Even in 2000 I decided not to go because I thought it was just another zoo and we have one of the best zoos in the united states, in the Cincinnati Zoo. Now knowing this is not the case I am intrigued to see this park.

We need to get here early. when they open the park I am again going to take every ones tickets and head over to Expedition Everest and get FastPasses for that attraction while the rest of the family heads over to Kilimanjaro Safari, where I will meet up and ride with them. The reasoning behind this is that the animals tend to be a bit more active first thing in the morning.

After we make sure we hit these two attractions and Finding Nemo the Musical, I think we will just explore this park. The Tree of Life and It’s tough to be a Bug will be great to see as well as getting the kids to Camp Minnie – Mickey to meet the Characters.

One thing I know we will be doing is taking a break around lunch time. From what I have read and heard on numerous podcasts, Animal Kingdom gets extremely hot during the summer. Taking a break is going to be a must just for my sanity knowing how my son is with heat.

Since this park closes early we will have some time to do something afterwards so I will have to do some homework and see what’s available. Maybe we could go and check out Animal Kingdom Lodge, while we are over there.

Epcot or EPCOT Center

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

Thursday is the day we make it to Epcot. Probably my favorite park, I’m interested to see how the kids like it. I think we are going to get there a bit later in the morning and head over to Soarin right away. When we are done there we are going to head over to Sunshine Seasons for a little brunch.

After brunch I think we are going to start going around future world clockwise and just hit what we can. I just want to make sure we check out Turtle Talk with Crush, The Seas with Nemo and Friends, Spaceship Earth and Test Track. This should put us at the beginning of World Showcase around 2:30 – 3:00.

World Showcase is going to be an experience with the kids. I’m hoping that getting them passports and checking out the shows and some of the attractions keeps their interest. I am also hoping on trying to get different foods and drinks from each pavilion for them to try. My Daughter can be a bit finicky but I may be able to talk my son into trying a few different things.

Dinner time is going to be a nice experience. I am looking at getting a reservation at Le Cellier Steakhouse at the Canada pavilion for some cheddar cheese soup and a nice juicy steak. We will of course finish out the day with a viewing of the best fireworks spectacle, Illuminations: Reflections of Earth.

Our Day of Rest

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

Wednesday is the day that we take time off from the parks. After breakfast, thanks to the WDW Today crew, my son and I are going to get up early and head over to Port Orleans Riverside to do a little fishing. He really likes doing things like this so I hope he like it. Afterwards we both are going to head over to the contemporary resort and rent a Sea Raycer for an hour and take a tour of Bay Lake.

When we are finished with our romp around the lake I would like to meet up with the rest of the family back at the pool at the resort and pick up some lunch at the food court. Lastly, towards the end of the day, I would like to get to Downtown Disney Marketplace and do a little shopping. I am really looking forward to seeing the kids faces as we walk into the World of Disney Store and also picking up some Christmas decorations at the Christmas store.

We are going to round out our day by having dinner at Raglin Road and get ourselves ready for a long day at Epcot.

The Second Park

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

On Tuesday I have us scheduled to go to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. When we get there, I am going to run back to Toy Story Midway Mania and get everyone fastpasses for this attraction so that we can go on it later. Once I get those I will meet everyone on Sunset Boulevard to go on the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith. My son is really looking forward to these. Of course we can’t forget checking out Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage for my Daughter, while we are over there.

There is one other attraction that my son says he wants to see and that’s the Lights, Motors, Action! Stunt Show. I want to make sure my daughter gets to see Playhouse Disney Live on Stage! and Voyage of the Little Mermaid and I want to check out Star Tours, Muppet Vision 3D, The Great Movie Ride, The Magic of Disney Animation, and finally Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream.

Finally, if it is showing that night, we need to experience Fantasmic. I have never seen this show so I am really excited to check this out.
